Dillon Stephen McKee arrived at 3:22pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. His due date was 7/17, but since things had already started progressing, our doctor decided to go ahead and induce early. We arrived at the hospital on Wednesday at 5:30am, they started the induction around 7:15am, and everything went relatively quickly and smoothly from there. Dillon had a great heart rate the whole time, but on his way down the birth canal, the umbilical cord got wrapped around his neck twice, so when he arrived he was blue and not breathing. The doctor and nurse reassured us that everything would be fine, and after a minute or two that seemed like eternity, we heard him scream, which was the best sound we had ever heard! Jeremy went in to see him, and when Dillon heard Daddy's voice, he immediately calmed down. Dillon weighed 8lbs. 2 oz. (same as mommy and Aunt Megan) and was 20 inches long. We were very relieved that he didn't have his Daddy's birth weight of 12lbs.! GiGi Ronda, Nana Debbie and Grandad Robert were there to see him after he spent some time with us in the delivery room.
